LLEVARÁN AGUA POTABLE A LAS COMUNIDADES MAYAS MÁS NECESITADA DE YUCATÁN
Presentan “Agua para el Sur de México”
Serán nueve millones de pesos que se invertirán para dotar de agua potable a las comunidades mayas más vulnerables y las cuales no cuentan con el servicio de agua potable. El proyecto lo impulsa el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo y el Distrito Rotario 4195. En rueda de prensa se especificó que serán obras de distribución de ductos, instalación de tinacos, bombas y cisternas para dotar del vital líquido a las comunidades.
Serán los estados de Quintana Roo, Campeche, Yucatán, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Tabasco y el sur de Veracruz, quienes se beneficiarán con el programa “Agua para el sur de México” en Yucatán serán municipios y comisarás como Maxcanú, Chochola, Tixpeual, comisarías como San Fernando, entre otras.
El Coordinador Regional del PNUD, Xavier Moya, y por parte del Distrito Rotario, la Gobernadora del Distrito 4195, Kit Bing Wong, así como el Presidente del Comité Distrital de la Fundación Rotaria, Ángel Carrera Mercado y el coordinador del proyecto en Rotary, Alfonso Rodrigo Guzmán Chávez. Durante la conferencia de prensa, los responsables de este gran proyecto comentaron que, en el mundo, se estima que existen 2,200 millones de personas que carecen de acceso servicios de agua potable. En 2015, la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y la UNICEF, indicaron que el 4% de la población en México (5 millones de personas) carecen de agua potable.
Por el momento este proyecto estará enfocado en cinco estados, que son: Yucatán, Campeche, Tabasco, Oaxaca y Chiapas. El Coordinador del proyecto en Rotary, Rodrigo Guzmán, comentó que ya hay más de 60 comunidades identificadas con un presupuesto estimado del proyecto de casi 300,000 USD para cubrir los costos de infraestructura necesaria y así beneficiar a más de 40,000 personas directas
